HEI Distributor Conversion on "74 454

I just received a HEI Distributor from Eckler's to convert my Standard points system on my 1974 454 engine to an HEI. The distributor is made by "High Tech Inovations" It came without any directions or help what so ever.

When I called Eckler's they faxed me a sheet with the following:

    1) Find the 12 Volt feed from the Key Switch to the resistor. Usually on the upside of the Wiring Harness.

    2) Remove the Resistor, You want to have 12 Volts going to the HEI.

    3) Splice a female Spade to the 12 Volt feed and attach to the battery side of the HEI.

    4) Change Spark Plug Wire to 8mm.

    My questions.

    1) Before I tear apart the Wiring Harness, does anyone know exactly where the resistor is located on a 1974 with a 454 or what the color of the wire is that the resistor is hooked to.

    2) Does anyone know who High Tech Inovations are or where they are located.

Thanks for any help you may have.

    John K.

P.S. I did check the archives before I posted.

    John----

Hi-Tech Innovations is currently located in Florida(formerly Illinois). I don't have their number handy, but they usually advertise in several of the Corvette Mags. Jim, the owner, is VERY knowledgeable and will be glad to help you out. I guarantee it.

I tracked down Hight-Tech Innovations and Jim answered the phone. He didn't have exact information, but was some help. Joe, FYI his number is 727-942-4003. Jim said to say "HI".
