    57' Spark Plug Wire Shielding

Are the two sheet metal (Boomerang shape) plug wire shields identical or is there a left and a right? What was the original finish? Painted or Plated?

As always, THANKS for the VALUABLE information!

    Bob-----

The vertical shields were different from side to side. This is true for all Corvettes which used the vertical shielding, although different styles were used, from 1956 onward.

As I recall, the C1 vertical shields were chrome plated.

      Joe,

I think Bob is asking about the lower spark plug wire shields.

They fit on either side of the block and I beleave they were plated.

I remember they drove me nuts.

The lower C1 shields are chrome plated and they are different from side-to-side.

The lower (unrestored) plug wire shields on my 57 do not appear to have been chrome plated...zinc or some such maybe, but they have no shine to them.

            Joe,

The part I am refering to is part number 3733124. With only one part number it does not appear to have a right and left.

According to Nolan Adams' Restoration Guide they were cadium or zinc plated. There was one example of a 1956 Corvette that was painted black. Page 127.

If Bob is refering to radio shielding, I agree with you.

Yes, I was refering to radio shielding and not the spark plug wire shielding. I, apparently, misinterpreted the question entirely.

On my 57 the parts are plated and both sides are the same. Brian
