    Duke,
    While the pedal effort with a 1" bore master would indeed be higher as you say, I don't think it would unsafe or uncomfortably high. Afterall, passenger cars, which used the same size brake shoes as Corvettes in '63 but were heavier cars than Corvettes all used a 1" bore master (other than with the metallic lining option).

    No I certainly wouldn't consider the 1" cylinder unsafe. In fact, with a vacuum booster I would consider it preferable to avoid the typical over sensitivity of power drum brakes that seemed to be the rule back in the sixties.
