69 BB need info on crank casting and? on internals

I am looking for the internals for my 427/435 need to start finding parts
I have the block and heads but I need everything else which is good I want to build it so I can drive on modern gas 97 octane.
Block is .30 over and I will be alight boring the main caps.

I am wondering what I should be looking for as far as the crank, connecting rods pistons, camshaft, lifters, and of course bearings, piston rings and harmonic balancer..? and of course any other advice you may have...
I have a flywheel that came with my car but I am not sure if its the original any idea on the casting numbers? That way I can check it out

1) You usually don't need to align bore the engine unless the main caps have been replaced. The block should be (a) left alone or, (b) align honed or, (c) align bored ONLY AS NECESSARY AND NOT AS A MATTER OF ROUTINE;

2) crank---- steel GM (most 427 cranks are steel) or steel aftermarket (usually expensive). If used, not more than 0.010"/0.010" US. GM forging numbers 7115 or 6223 are the ones you want;

3) rods----use a new set of GM #10198922. This is the best bargain in big block connecting rods ever in history. These are LS-6/LS-7 rods which are also used on all SHP Gen V and Gen VI small blocks. They are second only to the ultra expensive L-88 rods in strength and are considerably stronger than the rods used for 67-69 L-71s. You can buy the whole set BRAND NEW for about $400. Add ARP Pro Series rod bolts (requires machine shop installation) and you've got everything you'll ever need and then some;

4) pistons---my first choice for STREET operation is KB hypereutectic. Otherwise, go with Federal Mogul/TRW forged. If you really have 97 octane pump gas in your area, then you might go as high as 10:1 on compression. Otherwise, keep it at 9.0:1. In a big block especially, any higher and you're asking for trouble; DETONATION WILL DESTROY AN ENGINE. PERIOD;

5) piston rings---Speed-Pro/Sealed Power with plasma moly filled top ring;

6) bearings----- camshaft=Durabond; mains and rods= Federal Mogul premium aluminum;

7)camshaft------best bet is retrofit hydraulic roller with no more than 280 degrees intake duration. As much lift as you can get. Otherwise, Crane reproduction of the GM #3863143 (original cam used for most L-71s); Use Crane mechanical lifters with the latter cam;

balancer-----GM #3860010 (same as original); FluidDampR is better but very expensive.

9) head gaskets----Fel-Pro Permatorque Blue 1017-1 for cast iron heads

Johnny - here is a source for the 6223 you can't go wrong. They ran in to a 2000 part buy on original GM 427 6223 Cranks....and they still have them I see. I had already found the scarce 7115 forging so I didn't buy one, but this is a great deal....Craig

Johnny - yes, I spoke with one of the guys there, apparently they got a warehouse unload (must have somehow been GM) and they purchased 2000 of these cranks for around $185 a pop, and are selling for $250. They are all new, never used stock. I almost bought one for a spare.... I paid a lot more for my 7115 forging before I saw this.... I did get my valves from them. They seem like a first rate supplier...Craig

I looked at GMparts direct and they were around 800 for all of them?

Id like to know where you can get em for $400

Johnny - go to gmpartsdirect.com or dspc2000.com and they sell them in sets of 8 in the GM perf parts section. You should find them for around $350 plus shipping, as I recall, they run $406 shipped to the door...Craig
