    69 bb numbers

I have purchased two vettes, a 72 and a 69. The 69 is in terrible shape as it sat outside for over 20 years. It was on a concrete slab and on car stands so it could be worse. It is a 427 400 hp with a four speed and a/c. I need to know about the engine. The block is a 3963512 #. The engine stamping is CEOA58586, which as I understand is a replacment. It's date code D7 70. The heads are casting no. 3931063, one dated C7 9 and the other C10 9. the only other is date I can find is the dist. with 4 D 29 on the alum band. I have not taken it apart yet.
I would appreciate any info I can get on this car, as I would like to restore it to original if there isn't too much problem with the non-original engine.
    Thanks, Tom

    Re: 69 bb numbers

    Tom,

You may want to provide more info on your 69, such as VIN and body build date, so you can get better answers to your questions.

From what I can see, you will lose some points because of the block date code, even though the 512 was used from 69 to 71. The 063 heads are correct for the 400hp application, but without a VIN or build date, it's not possible to ascertain if they are dated correctly for your use.

Also, if the 69 wasn't gutted too much, you may still find the Order Copy on the top of the gas tank. It would provide valuable info for your restoration.
