    70 radiator & coolant tank

Gentlemen! I would like to know what type of coolant recovery tank a 70 LT-1 would have (plastic or metal) also what would the correct # be for the 70 LT-1 radiator and where would they be located? I have 2 70's both non orig. motors they have totaly different radiators and recovery tanks and neither have the tank stickers I'm stumped. Thank you c.e.storer member#24633

I believe that 1970 Corvette LT-1s could have used one of THREE different radiators. Some may have used GM #3155316. This is an aluminum radiator which uses an aluminum external supply tank, GM #3016340, mounted on the right side fender well.

Some, or even most, 1970 LT-1s used a brass radiator. This radiator did not use an external supply tank. I don't have the part number for this radiator handy, but it may have been 3018803.

1970 LT-1s with ZR-1 used aluminum radiator GM #3007436. This radiator used an aluminum supply tank identical to the system described above.

There were several other radiators used for 1970 applications other than LT-1. All big blocks used the same aluminum supply tank as described above, EXCEPT those with A/C which used a brass tank, GM #3019249.

NO 1970 Corvette used a plastic supply tank OR a plastic coolant recovery tank.
