68 Spark Plugs & Spark Plug wires

    Gentlemen,
    1968 L79 327 cubic inch/350 horsepower motor:
What are the factory correct spark plugs and spark plug wires for this motor.
I cannot seem to find anything on this subject in the Judging/Technical Manual.
Should the plug wires be dated as some of the aftermarket catalogs suggest.
Please provide as many SPECIFIC details as possible on both items and also best source for obtaining same.
    Thank you as always,
    Kurt Bunting #26406

    Kurt-----

The original plugs used for your application were AC-44. You can still purchase this plug from Delco dealers, although the configuration of the porcelain and the steel base are not exactly as-original. For exactly original plugs, you will need to look for a period-correct set of NOS plugs. These will have 4 thin green rings around the ribbed section of the porcelain. You might find some on eBay and they're often found at automotive swap meets. There are quite a few sets still around.

The plug wires were dated by year and quarter of manufacture. To obtain as original a configuration as you can get, you pretty much have to go with the Lectric Limited reproductions. These wires had a black outer insulation. Originals were labeled with "Packard" (the GM division that made the wire) and "TVR" (television/radio suppression). The boots on the spark plug end were of the 90 degree type. On the distributor end they were "straight". The boots on both ends were black.

Actually, I believe we included all the plug wire information in the latest edition of the JG a couple of years ago.
