Need to replace the clutch on my '62. After research, I've settled on trying to decide between a Luk RepSet for $133 and a Centerforce I for $296. Both these prices are delivered. The Luk is from dialaclutch.com, and the Centerorce is from Summit Racing. Opinions?

Re: C1 Clutch Set Buying Decision Question
Unless you are abusing the clutch/transmission (racing)there is no reason to spend the money on the Centerforce. I have used both in the past and, in fact, have a Centerforce in one of my cars now, but I will not spend the money on another just for street driving/cruising. I do flog my cars on occasion but not serious racing and the Luk package works fine.

Re: C1 Clutch Set Buying Decision Question
A friend and I put a new Luk in his 67 L-79 last week. Don't bother to use the plastic alignment tool that comes with it. We tried several times and although it looked close the tranny would not go all the way in. Finally went and got an old 10 spline input shaft from my dad (a casualty of one of the many transmissions I destroyed when young) and it aligned perfectly. I also don't like the throw out bearing that comes with the Luk package. It has a plastic portion for the smaller section where the clutch fork rides.
Other than that it looks like a nice setup.

Re: C1 Clutch Set Buying Decision Question
I put a LuK RepSet clutch (from Paragon) in my '57 270 five years and 5,000 miles ago; very nice piece, low pedal effort, smooth engagement; I normally use Centerforce II's in my other project cars that get hammered on, but there's no need for a Centerforce in a stock C1 (the tires give up far quicker than the clutch)- Top
