    C2 chassis detailing

    Hello again

I am in the process of detailing my chassis with a kit I have purchased from Quanta products.
My car is a ST Louis 1966 427/425 car B2965 build date
    And have some questions
1-What should my frame pull date be.and is it on both sides of the frame?

2-How should the date look.I have found 2 pictures in some books I have showing the frame(authentic restoration guide corvette restoration guide 1963-1967 bt richard f newton) page 34 showing the date as 10-2-65 so I assume it oct the 10th of 1965.Then in the same book page 159 there is a picture of some frames on a line and the date is shown as 20-9-65 So I am assuming the date is sept the 9th of 1965,What is the correct way to state the date
    month day year
    or
    day month year

Also the detail kit shows that there is supposed to be a number writting on the rear ends assembely but how do I know what this number should be I do not see it refrenced in any of my books.

I have several other questions but this will get me started,Any and all advice is apreciated on this also if any body has any pictures of detailing marks they would like to share with me I could use them

    Thanks Again
    Larry

    Re: C2 chassis detailing

    Larry:

The pull date is the day the bare frame was removed from inventory in preparation for assembly. It generally was pulled on assembly day, or the day before. Possibly was pulled sooner in some cases, but you can't go wrong using the above rule of thumb.
You might be able to find the original date on your frame if you carefully clean it using mild soap and water. It should still be there unless it was painted over at some point in the past. Once the area is clean, look very closely, you might be able to make out enough of it to give you your answer.
It is found on the right side, in the area just forward of the #1 body mount. It is written in grease pencil( I used the white one supplied in the kit), upside down, and in the format MM-DD-YY.

      Larry,

My '66's frame stencil includes a STENCILED (not grease pencil) date: 23-2-66. The car is #15521 with a March 4 build date. The engine is stamped with a 2/23/66 build date. The date stencil is adjacent to the pn# stencil. Can send a photo if you'd like.

This is a 52k mile CA car, so it's original. Just goes to show not all frame dates were grease penciled.
