    midyear A/C "leaker" fix sealant

Anyone know what a good sealant to use is on the top of the A/C box on the firewall so it doesnt leak? I can see a small visible gap under the plenum (despite brand new gaskets) and it will definitely leak if not fixed. I'm sure the original stuff is no longer available. Thanks! Brandon

I can recommend 3-M Strip Chaulk. It is usually carried at well supplied auto parts stores and always at the places where body shops buy their paint and other supplies. Comes in a flat rectangular box and the chaulk is in thin strips and is paintable. Lots of uses on Corvettes.

Make sure you doen't use anything along the joint that will prevent you from parting the box for service. I made that mistake years ago on a Mustang heater box, and ended up cracking the fiberglass trying to open up the box.
