    67 s/b plug wire routing

Regarding an earlier post on plug wires, which wires run through the engine mount on a small block? I cant find anything about this in the AIM or the JG. Also, is it better to install the shielding with the distributor out or already installed? Thanks! Brandon

    Brandon:
1-2-3&4 all pass through the motor mounts if I understand your question correctly..
Shielding really makes no difference but, if retiming is necessary after start up, installing the distributor "box" after run in would allow easier distributor removal should repositioning the distributor prove necesary

      Jer,
About the s/b plug wire routing on 1,2,3& 4 do the wires go just half way thru the motor mount and then come up and split to 1-3 and 2-4 or do they go all the way thru the motor mount then come back to 1-3 and 2-4?? I don't think there is enough plug wire to go all the way thru the motor mount.

      Thanks,
      Floyd

Unless I've been doing this wrong for a LONG time, there is enough wire to route the wires down through the motor mounts, (between the engine and block) all the way to the pan retainers and back to the distributor.
Now there is always a huge possibility I have been under a misconception

              Jer,
No, you are right and yes there is enough wire to go to the retainers on the pan and the v shields to the distributer. My question was, do the wires go in one side of the motor mount and out the other side and then pull back to the spark plugs or go in one side of the motor mount then up THRU the motor mount between the engine and the mount and 2 wires split and go to the #1-#3 and #2-#4 plugs.

The wires go through the motor mount. From the bottom straight through. You may have to lift the engine a little to geet them through.

If you reverse the proceedure and thread the wires from the top down, distributor end first, (pull the distributor boot back from the terminal) they will slide throufgh and save your hours of work
                  Just my opinion

                    Thanks Jer,
I purchased the Electric Limited dated plug wires and that is how I installed them.I just wanted to be sure I installed them correctly. I didn't want to go thru that again if possible.

                    Thanks again,
