Re: THE FIRST 67 CORVETTE???????
Jeff -- This car was owned by a good friend in 1976, and I drove it around the block in Calgary Alberta, back then. Yes it's St. Louis COUPE body # 1 (so it means that the 4 cars assembled prior were S- or A-body convertibles, or A-body coupes). Yes, it's possible for the 7th car off the line to have AO Smith convertible body # A-0007. Just means that St.Louis inserted this particular body into the line at that time. The other 6 A-body convertibles may or may not have been delivered to the final assembly plant at that time -- or, an Ionia A-body coupe or convertible could theoretically be one of the VIN #s 00001 thru 00004. The link between S-body shop and the basement (A-bodies stored after arrival) was hardly ever consecutive with respect to the chassis line.- Top
