    '72 Tach Cable

Looks like I'm going to have to replace my tach cable. I understand that most of the replacements are too long. Has anyone found one vendor over another closer to the original length, or are they all a problem? I've disconnected it from the distributor and pulled on it then re-connected it. It works for a while then quits again. Looks like the tip in the distributor end may have broken off but I don't see the other piece in the distributor. The cable now appears too short and worms it's way back towards the tach and quits after a few minutes of running. Any input is appreciated as always.

All I found for sale had housings that were too long to fit properly.

I would buy a speedometer cable repair kit at an auto parts store and cut it to length. In other words, re-use your old tach cable outer housing.

Better yet, go to a speedometer shop and have them make you a cable to fit with regular swaged ends. I've never had much luck with those cut to fit things.
