Window Sticker Adhesive

I was wondering if anyone out there knows or can remember from their days as a lot boy what glue was used to attach the window stickers. I went to the local Chevy dealer to find out, but the modern system uses a type of double sided tape. I just wanted to attach my repro window sticker to the car for fun, car shows, gee whiz effect, and I'm not worried about saving it. I have extras and it's only a repro.

At least as far back as 1967, or so, the window stickers weren't attached at the dealer. They were attached at the assembly plant. The adhesive used was a water soluble adhesive, like that used on envelope flaps and lick-type stamps.

I believe that you can obtain a glue like this in stationary stores. It's called "mucelage" or something like that. It used to be supplied in a small glass bottle with a rubber top applicator. I don't know how it's supplied today.

I would use a "Glue Stick" which can be remomed easily when you want to.

I have the pass side door glass with window sticker just barely attached off a 66 425 roadster that Don Blatchly purchased new from Don Yenko. as Joe stated, the glue is envelop-like. definitly water soluble and now some 40 years later, its a light brown color. If anyone would like to see it, stop by. mike
