I have a 1962 corvette 327 engine,250 h.p. 4 speed tranny.I need some info about the Generater. On the end caps where the mounting holes are is what this is about. Are ( both )holes supposed to be large holes that take the rubber bushing or just one?I was just looking at a 62 vette with 340 hp.It had both holes small. The owner said it had to do with the hp.Can someone please tell me if both holes on mine are supposed to be large? Or what. And is it true about the hp having anything to do with it?
Although there's no mention of this in the current 61-2 JG book, Noland Adams alludes to an early running change....
He says all '62 Corvettes used the 1102268 generator until AIM date 10-26-61 when it changed to the 1102174 generator on low HP engine configurations only with the 1102268 generator continuing to be used on high horse cars thereafter. Whether this is true or not, I can't say; this year of straight axle Corvette is NOT my specialty area.
Mike Ernst in his Restorer article Vol 6 #4 as VIN # 311 having an originally equipped 1102174. The changeover to 1102174 is mentioned in the 1962 AIM.
