    69 Side Exhaust

    This is an update from my last message that I forgot to mention what yr. my side exhaust was off of, My question is, Is there a web site, book or somthing I can refer to, to see Exactly how to Disassemble & reassemble these 69 side exhaust ? I have what I think is a very complete set of 69 side exhaust,the fiberglass insulator is cracked all the way through on the right side. I would like to take them apart, fix or replace the cracked part and have them rechromed over this next winter so I will be ready when the spring gets here. ( it may sound like a silly question to some, but somtimes parts do not come loose to easy, and I just want to do it right.) Thanks VINCE.

    The 69 side exhaust covers are screwed together, small hex head screws. The covers are a zinc alloy and the screws can be difficult. Spray them with a penetrating oil and let them sit. Use a six poont socket or nut driver to disassemble being careful not to break them off in their bosses, (they can twist off easily).
    You will have a difficult time finding anyone to rechrome this "pot metal"
    You can try this gentleman, he has been doing them, and only them for years;

    I haven't spoken to him imn several years but he was reasonable and his work was excellent.

      I had Librandi's Plating in Harrisburg, PA replate my center sections. NICE job. Chuck

        I am also pleased with Rick Applegates work, I recommended David because this is his speciality. I do not know if Rick wants to get involved with these but if you are closer to him it is worth a call.

          Re: 69 Side Exhaust

          There was an archaic post describing a fellow named Dave who restored '69 side exhaust systems and did applausable work. His email address was offered as dksen@msn.com. I tried to contact him regarding my original side exhaust, only to receive the dreaded message "unknown recipient, please try another address" or something to that effect. Does anyone know what happened to Dave or how to contact him?

          Thanks, Kent
