I have a lousy paint sprayer from sears that I need to replace. Can anyone suggest a moderately priced sprayer that will do a good job?

Most moderately priced guns are regular type and not HVLP. The old standbys are binks #7 or Sharpes 975s, in the neighborhood of $175. There are also clones of both of these guns out there, about $75. There are many other choices though. -

Sharpe has a very good web site and discussion group. Dr. Gun will answer all your questions about paint and the type of gun to use. I used their Platinum Low-Volume gun and it works very well.

I have a Binks Model 7 that I've had forever. It is a professional gun and have been extremely satisfied with it.Comment

Floyd,
I got a Devilbiss gravity feed HVLP gun for 129.95 from the link below. I am not an expert and have only used it few times, but it seems to do a very nice job.
