Re: 67 bolt on's whose doing them (resto)
I have one newer and one older reference. I have no first hand experience with either of these two references, I only know that they may be available for wheel restorations. Maybe someone else here will have a better recommendation.
The old reference I have is David Cosner in Bedford, Indiana, 812-279-4973. From what I was told he restores '67 aluminum bolt-on wheels, and if so, then I am likewise not familiar with the quality of his work. The other reference is out on the left coast and I have seen him highly recommended for restoring original aftermarket vintage racing wheels. His name is Terry Vaughn, http://www.mrtorqthrust.com or e-mail terryvaughn@verison.net .
If anything, I would specifically ask any wheel restorer how much original material (in your case aluminum) they may or may not remove in their own restoration process. I've heard of a few specific '67 aluminum bolt-on wheel cases where enough of the outer flange material was removed that it no longer appeared to be a deep enough groove (a frontside feature of the originals) to hold a wheel/tire balancing weight.
