    56 powerglide shifting problem

I have a recently rebuilt 56 cast iron powerglide that shifts very hard. It shifts into high gear very harshly, with a decided clunk. Is there any adjustment for this, or does it have to come out? Is there any documentation on rebuilding these things?

There is some adjustment, the TV linkage and also the vacuum modulator both affect the shift. I would look first at the vacuum modulator, and or the vacuum hookup to the modulator for a "too hard" shift.

Bill -Jims 56 PG dosen't have a modulator, he wrote me and I told him to ajust the low band and linkage. That most likly is his trouble.

        Re: 56 powerglide bad news

Schultz Poor guy E-mailed me after I told him how to adjust his trans shifting problem and realized he has to remove it now to correct it. Who ever rebuilt it srewed up.There is nothing simpler then a PG cast or alum. to rebuild. If any one can remove one from a Corvette , then you can rebuild it. A kit is around $100.00 and a shop doing it can run around $2000.00 and up. If any one can use help I'm willing to try and help you. ROY
