Unknown Part? C2

I am hoping that someone can help me identify a part that was given to me by the prior owner in a box when I bought my car. He claims it was an original part that came off the engine. The part is stamped with the following:

1107320 6E2
Delco Remy USA

3

Then there is a number that is stamped perpendicular to this (just below and to the right of the USA) that reads - 50442

What is it? And, could it have been an orignial engine part if the engine build date is April 27, vin#194676S121064?

GM #1107320 is a starter motor assembly used for 1964-67 Corvettes. This particular unit was made on May 2, 1966. Starters were installed at St. Louis, not the engine plant. So, it's very possible that this was the original starter used on the car.

Thanks for the id! Would you (or anyone) happen to have a suggestion for a rebuilder? It would be one less part I'd have to find for the restoration.

Rob,

Contact Jerry MacNeish regarding the starter rebuild. He did one
for my 69 SS 396 Camaro and did a fine job. Price was reasonable too.
