    Dale----

No problem. The GM #3955182 fan was originally used for 1969 Corvettes with high performance engines (either L-46 or L-36) AND A/C. It continued as the L-46 with A/C fan for 1970. The GM #3955182 fan is of 7 blades and of 17-1/2" diameter.

In April, 1971 the GM #3955182 fan replaced the GM #3888366 fan blade for SERVICE. The 3888366 was originally used for many Corvette small blocks from 1966 through 1970. It is a 5 blade fan of 17-1/2" OD.

The GM #3877660 thermostat housing is a cast aluminum housing first used for 1966 Corvettes with base engine. It continued to be used through about 1972 or 73 for many Corvette engines. For 1968-70, it is correct for all engines except, as I recall, L-88. The design of this piece changed somewhat over the years, although the part number did not. It was still available in SERVICE until just a few years ago. This piece was not just used on Corvettes; it was widely used on Chevrolet small and big blocks from 1966-72 or 73.

If memory serves, these PN's are called out in your copy of the AIM in the appropriate section that introduces the option (C60 for A/C equipped cars and the particular engine for non-base cars). Note, sometimes a very simple change from the base car is documented as a 'non-illustrated' item at the preface to the particular option....

          Dale-----

All 1968 Corvettes with 427 engines, with or without A/C, from L-36 to L-88 used fan blade assembly GM #3888366. This is a 5 blade, 17-1/2" OD fan.

The above-referenced fan blade was discontinued from SERVICE in April, 1971 and replaced by the 7 blade GM #3955182. So, if a fan on a 68 were replaced after that time with a GM-sourced unit, the 3955182 would be the one you got. However, the GM #3955182 was never originally installed on a 1968 Corvette.
