    SOURCE FOR WEATHERSTRIP

Has anyone used Corvette America for weatherstrip? I am looking to buy a complete set for my 1961. Thanks, Joe DeLuca #37862

    Joe,

For the most part, they only come from 2 source, Corvette Rubber or Metro Moulded Parts (save for some specialty items from DocRebuild). Everyone else sells their products.

Save some $ and either buy from Corvette Rubber at Carlisle, or order a set through The Last Detail. You will NOT save $ through Corvette America.

      Re: SOURCE FOR WEATHERSTRIP

I have been shown two examples of weatherstripping being sold. Both have the correct shape and cross section. However, one of the two is composed of a very dense rubber material while the second is composed of a very soft flexible rubber. The high density material will not "give" enough to allow the doors to close. Hence, the softer of the two is the one to buy. UNFORTUNATELY, I was not given the brand names of the two examples. Therefore, I intend to complete the investigation at Carlisle later this summer where I can "cop a feel" on those weatherstrip products being offered. Perhaps, others can add to this knowledge.

Corvette Rubber no longer has a space at Carlisle. Only mail order. I see that Corvette America is offering a rebate on orders for weatherstrip in the NCRS Driveline mag ad.

Yeah, their prices may get almost reasonable now. I've never found Corvette America's prices to be competitive with most of the catalog dealers.

Most of the catalogs carry Corvette Rubber items. I've seen Metro Molded weatherstrip in Corvette Central and I think only one other (that I can't remember).

I have no financial interest, but check out www.tld-corvette.com for weatherstrip kit prices. It's the best I've seen for Corvette Rubber kits.
