    70 Rear 1/4 panel

    Hello all,

A friend of mine has a 70 Corvette and got into an accident recently , damaging the rear 1/4 panel. He is looking to replace it with an aftermarket panel . Does anyone have any recomendations on any fiberglass companies and price, quality etc? I've heard ACI is pretty good but i have no experiences with them. Thanks in advance..............

Hello Kenny; New Old Stock is best, if you can find it. Several friends in the Corvette restoration business have told me that they feel that panels from "Corvette Image" are the best as far as fit and finish go. I believe that Corvette Image is located in the Pacific northwest....Oregon or Washington. Others may elaborate more. Chuck

Kenny, be carefull with any aftermarket panel, as there were subtle changes in the wheelwells regarding the width of the flange that vary in different years. One source I would definately try for NOS fiberglass for your year is "Bair's" in Linesville PA. They have a large selectrion of NOS Body parts for 68-82 cars. Phone number is (814) 683-4223

No need to buy reproduction stuff......

when you gen get the real deal from:

            888-318-3888.

I had to replace my inner fenders, and bought repos from ZIP, talk about junk, then I got a hold of the above number, and they pulled the inners from an existing 68 they were parting out. I don't know how they did it, but they were perfect when I got them. If you evr tried to pull a panel apart, it is almost impossible to do without some sort of damage.

Give those guys a call, what have you to loose? It's their dime, plus you keep your car original. Next best thing to a NOS piece is a used piece, and after its painted you can't tell.

                    Sorry 'bout the typo..........

Americas Finest Corvettes, 888-318-3883, Mike or Tony. They are located outside of San Diego, Ca. Just purchased all the chrome from these guys for my 68, and they guarantee w/full refund if not satisfied. I should get delivery either this Wed. or Thurs. They stated the chrome is so good, it does not need any plating, we shall see. It wasn't that expensive, around $700.00
