Hello to all,
I just wanted to take a moment and let all my fellow vette owners know the status of all my projects. Last summer my wife and I purchased a 1970 LS5 4 spd coupe with the simple idea of have an "hot rod" weekend driver. Shortly (few days) after we got it home did the true reality come to life. The power steering went out. We put in a new pump. With the new pressure of the pump, it blew out the ram seals and the proportioning valve seals. So we replaced everything. That was the beginning of the tunnel. Then there were some small things. Then every time I started a new project it ALWAYS led to 3 or 3 more. I used to take alot of pride in being a backyard mechanic, well after working corvette I have re-thought my position on this. Electrical grounds, vacuum systems and fiberglass, well all you guys know mean. Well to make a long story short:
Vacuum systems- done Cooling systems- done Fiber optics- done Dash board wiring- done New exhaust system- done New clutch- done Re-sealed transmission- done Battery cables- done Reverse switch- done New Carpet- almost done (foot note this is tougher than the clutch) New Fuel tank- Done & Finally 999 little things.
For all the above projects, I have used - Dr Rebuild - Corvette Central - Eckers - and my local Chevy dealer. All suppliers were great and their kits fit.
Why am I telling you all this, to say thanks for all the quality advise. Because of all this site and the helpful people here these projects were fun and successful. I have recently become a member and hopefully I will be able to share some of my experiences with others. Now we see the light at the end of the tunnel and will be crusin once again.
A special thanks to Joe Lucia, he has always given me answers and good advise, especially to the tough questions.
thanks everyone
