    68 TI Amp/Possible Error in TIM&JG

On page 338 of the 68 AIM, the TI amplifier is listed as 1115343, which replaced the 1115005 on January 29, 68 (note 9). The TIM& JG, 3rd edition, page 48 indicates that the TI amp should be 1115005 for all 68's.

I contacted Dave Fiedler of TI Specialties and provided him with my build date and VIN, and he replied that my vehicle should have the 1115343 amplifer.

From the info I've learned, the 1115343 has the "pigtail" similar to 1115438 69 TI amplifiers.

Any thoughts on this or anyone have examples of a 1115343 TI amp on late build 68's?

The AIM is not the holy grail for information on running changes. Unfortunately. It has been my experience to expect the 1115005 on '68's. I would suggest that you look for other late '68's

We used as many cars as we could look at to compile the TIM/JG as accurately as possible.

        Dick,

I've learned the hard way that there really is no holy grail when it comes to Corvettes. In this particular case, I had three sources, the AIM, Dave Feidler, and the TIM&JG. Two sources (the AIM and Dave) were indicating the 5343, while the TIM&JG indicated the 5005. A discrepancy -- hence the original post.

I have never met Dave nor have I utilized his services, but I did put more weight to his opinion based on his "specialty" in TI systems. I also realize that in compiling the TIM&JG, only a sample of cars could be surveyed. And even that small sample is alot more cars than I could hope to see to answer my question.

Again, I just wanted to point out what I found and hopefully get an answer, so I don't waste resources hunting down a component that I don't need. If you have more information, or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

I have a 68 with a July build date and it has the 1115343 TI amplifier.
