1960 Cove Paint

What is the correct line of demarcation from the body color to the cove color when going from the body cove to the jamb? I have seen it a number of ways including only the outer skin getting the cove color to the cove color extending all the way to the first radius on the jamb.

John, The Cove paint was applied after the body color was applied. The demarcation lines are as follows: the top line will be found at the top center of the wheel well. In looking at original cars you will find a rather fuzzy line similar to the hood blackout process, indicating that it was done with a mask/template rather than taping prior to applying the paint. For the lower line, it is near the center of the cove trim. Pay attention to get a paint line that is parallel to the ground, and does not creep up as masking tape tends to do when brought around the corner. Hope this helps.

Actually, the demarcation line I was most interested in is the one where the cove dies into the door jamb. can anyone else help?

John, The cove paint will be oversprayed into the door crease. Look at it as though the paint was applied with the door closed, with the masking done on the outside of the door only. The door jamb area will receive paint that makes it through the 'crack'.
