    Gas Tank Installation

I am restoring a 63 convertible and have completed the frame, suspension, etc. When I installed the body, the gas tank filler did not line up with the hole in the body. the filler neck is below the hole about half the width of the hole. I have rechecked the corvette assembly manual and have it installed correctly from what I can tell. Appears there is only one way to set the tank on the cross members and install the straps. Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Gas Tank Installation

perhaps you installed a coupe filler neck . the conv and coupe filler necks differ in length and i can't remember which one is short(prob the roadster) and which one is longer(? coupe). You'll also need the rubber boot installed to determine if the neck is malpositioned. mike

      Re: Gas Tank Installation

I installed the one for the roadster and have the rubber boot installed. Appreciate the response and will take any other suggestions. I also checked to make sure it is the right gas tank yesterday.
