shifter linkage for a 1957 powerglide

Hi and thanks for the quick response-

I'm looking for the "rod" linkage that attaches from the shifter to the transmission.

I have the shifter and purchased the kickdown, kill switch,etc.. from Corvette Central. It seems Paragon/ Corvette Central/ nor MaryJo in San Diego can get their hands on the shifter rod.

If someone can e-mail me a picture of the "rod" and its dimension- I can weld one up myself if I have to!

I live in Ventura, California & finding 50's parts in junkyards is impossible!!

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Mike-----

If you are referring to the "long" control rod, that part was GM #3726810. Unfortunately, it was discontinued from SERVICE in July, 1969 (as a matter of fact, just about the time that I factory-ordered my 69 convertible). Finding an NOS example would be difficult. This piece was a Corvette-only item, so, even if you had some 50s cars to pick the bones of, you won't be able to salvage one from another Chevrolet model.

If I were you, I'd contact Pacific Corvette in Puyallup, WA (www.pacvette.com). They dismantle Corvettes and inventory the parts by original part number. So, all you need to do is call them and ask if they have the above-referenced part number in stock. It'll be used, but for a part like this, used is usually as good as new. As a last resort, call Piper's Auto Specialties of Vermillion, IL. They also dismantle Corvettes, plus they have a huge inventory of NOS stuff "lying around". Since they often have and sell "the last one out there", it doesn't come cheap.

I don't have a drawing of the part, but I can tell you that it was 13-5/8" overall length.
