C1 62 Side Cove Moulding

I am cleaning the side cove moulding on my 62 after repainting the car. The horizontal fins have a splotchy non polished look that will not easily clean or polish off. Were these mouldings flash chrome plated or anodized originally? What do restorers do with these side cove mouldings to restore them? I don't want to polish the fins as they are difficult to get to because of the tight spacing and because I don't think they were originally polished to a high gloss shine.

Check the archives on this subject. Sometime ago, Dale Pearman, 1962 Corvette afficionado extrodinaire, served up some information on these cove moldings. My recollection is that he said that they were finished using some process that made them very difficult to restore/refinish.

Saw and bought a pair of repo moulding from Corvette Specialties of Maryland. excellent repos. They ad. in driveline. mike

An archive search was unsuccessful for cove moulding in many variations on all three archives. I don't seem to have much luck in searching the archives. Maybe someone else knows of the discussion you mentioned and can narrow down the search parameters for me.
