    1969 C-60 Air Conditioning

I am in the process of restoring the A/C on my 69 L-36. When I bought the car in 1989 it was missing the condensor so I have a new one along with new hoses and a used compressor that I disassembled and cleaned. The A/C guy said I would likely need a new orific. I cant not find one listed in the catalogs. Does this system have a replacable orifice? What would you guys with recent experience on this recommend that I replace before I take it to be serviced? I will be charging it with 134. I also need the bolts to fasten the condensor to the support, but cannot find them listed anywhere either.

I would recommend a new dryer for your system before vacuuming the system down and charging with 134. Since your system is not charged there is one screen that I would check. I believe the screen is at the connection where the 134 comes to from the condensor. I am not at home now to verify by looking at my 70's service manual. This screen is recessed and I got it out easily by using a small easy out to retrieve it, it does not require any force to remove it. The easy out grips just enough to pull it out.

      Larry,
The 1969 C-60 system does not use an orifice tube. It uses an expansion valve.

Jim, Terry, Thanks for the input. I talked again with the A/C guy today. I will be replacing everything except the evaporator, and the drier outlet tube. I found the bolt specs in the GM parts manual so I'm covered there. I called the parts store and they list two compressors, one with a 5 inch pully, and one with a 5 3/4 pulley. My old compressor is a 5 inch, but I will not swear it is correct. Anyone know for sure which one is correct.
