    C1 Headlights

Are the repro T-3 headlights available correct? Any supplier with the best? Need some but can't find any NOS in my price range. Thanks.

I believe that Lectric Limited is the only supplier of repros. I have some and they are 100% correct EXCEPT they have "DOT" on the lense near the edge. Unfortunately the DOT lettering is on the inside an cannot be ground off.

          Steve,
Yes, the repro's can be distinguished from NOS. Inside the filiment has a little black shield over it that is noticeable plus the glass has a small DOT mark cast in (gov. requirement). IMO they easliy pass the 5' test. I believe Lectric Limited is the only manufacturer for these headlights. Regards,

            Don't know how....

the reproduction lamps can be 'correct' as the catalogs list ONE part number for both '56 and '57. The JG book tells us to distinguish '56 lamps from '57 by the font size of the 'Guide Sealed Beam' emboss at the bottom of the lens with '56 having smaller (3/8-inch) font while '57 and service replacements have larger (1/4-inch) font. Then there's the whole issue of DOT marks since the repro lamps are built now and must obey current law in terms of compliance disclosure.

Soooo, using the NCRS policy of originality deductions based on distinguishable differences along the axes of (Finish, Installation, Date, Configuration and Completeness), I'd venture the repro lamps would garner a 40% originality deduction for '56 (20% loss on configuration; font size, and 20% loss on date; presense of DOT marks). But, consider the teeter totter alternative to finding those rare as hen's teeth original lamps used and taking condition deduction(s) for pit in the lens + discoloration of the lens glass and reflector at the top of the bulbs....

Try checking out the Chevy guys like Classic Chevy , they made more cars then vetts and the price should be lower for originals then Corvette sellers. There are so many parts for the C1's that can be found under Chevy 55 to 57 E-Bay. Look under Chevy for many parts NOT Corvette.
