A guy at work is fixing rust on a windshield post on a 66 Chevelle . He is looking for correct rivets for the vin tag (no its not stolen, yes its his car) I have seen them for sale but cant remember where .any one have any ideas ? Bill

This is a specialty item. However, contrary to popular belief, it is NOT illegal to sell or possess these "rosette" rivets.
In any event, these rivets are sold by Corvette Central and, possibly, other vendors. Their catalog number is 342017 and they sell for about 4 bucks for a set.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

I have two other sources to check for these ROSETTE Rivets,
and I will post then when I can "Confirm" availablity.
I hope I don't have to machine my own on my Bridgeport Milling Machine.
But, if need be.....I shall.
I had to repair an area on my '71's frame, and hence,remove the tag so
I could weld,etc.
At least I don't have to do this on my '66....or '87 for that matter.
Discontinued.....I've been hearing that word CONSTANTLY on of all things
my 1987 Coupe!Time marches on. I suppose most 17 model year Chevy's
are Junkyard fodder mostly.
Such is our "Corvette Life".
