After a complete Disassembly of my 62, all parts restored or replaced, frame cleaned and painted I have started to reassemble the chassis. I purchased a complete front suspension rebuild kit from ZIP products. The original upper inner control shaft is tight and in good condition and I would like to use it. But the new upper inner bushing caps bind about 3/4 of the way on the old shaft. This makes the upper control arm want to pivot on the bushing instead of control arm threads. The new bushing caps thread on the new shaft with no problems but I have no way of removing the old shaft plus the rebuild will be a lot easier if I can use the original control shaft. Note: one cap out of four screws on the old shaft without binds. I see no problems with the threads in the new caps. I can't tap out the bushing caps because the threads are non-standard. It is almost August already and I need to crank the fuelie and ride!! Been a long two year project. Any help is truly appreciated.

Re: C1 Front Suspension rebuild problem
Roy, I will be rebuilding my front end soon on my '56. Any suggestions as to who has the best parts? It seems as though it would take me a while to get all NOS parts!(although I do see the occassional tie rod end, etc. on ebay.) Thanks.- Top

Re: C1 Front Suspension Steve
Steve check out www.nationalchevyassoc.com if you look at thier parts list along with the pic they give you , you will be surprised at the part from early 50's cars that are the same as C-1's. And remenber most people don't know how to install the parts you mention.- Top
