re fuel question wayne cypress steve use the lowest octane gas that does not cause detonation also known as engine pinging a noise sort of like coca cola bottles rattling around in their carrying carton when the engine is under load accelerating or climbing a hill i'm assuming your engine is properly tuned with proper spark advance spending money for gasoline of any higher octane is a waste of your money gasoline refined to higher octanes is refined to be less volatile and slower burning so that it can be compressed more higher compression ratio without exploding spontaneous combustion or detonation prior to the sparkplug firing as in a diesel engine and to slow the burning process so that detonation doesn't occur after the sparkplug fires
