    Terry,

There is a great private lot outside gate 7. You can park your motorhome there and be steps from the show field. I have parked a car there during spring Carlisle for around $10/day. I would imagine a motorhome might be $20 or so. Its a great out of the way location and easy to get to.

      Dave,
I will be going to Carlisle and camping, also. Does the camp ground outside gate 7 require advanced reservations? If so, how would we obtain the telephone number. I tried the Carlisle web site but didn't have any luck finding camping info.

I seem to remember that last year I stayed in a camp ground that was operated by a fire department. Can't find their telephone number either.

          Terry,
Go to Google.com and type in campgrounds Carlisle, Pa..... or there are a number of private homes with large pieces of property bordering the perimiter of the Fairgrounds. Most of those people "rent" space to park motor homes and cars, although they have no utility hook-ups some have port-a-johns. They usually charge $5 to 10$ per day. If you just have your car, they even rent space on their lawns! Get there early and grab a something close to a gate. The more items you buy the more your running back and forth to your car. (so you don't have to carry it around all day)

This is a private lot operated by a homeowner in a residential neighborhood. I don't believe he takes reservations, it is a first come, first serve situation. He is directly outside the gate so Carlisle wouldn't be involved. If you get there early in the morning or late at night I don't think you will have a problem finding a space for you Motorhome. He parks a lot of daily admission spectators and many leave later in the afternoon thus freeing up space. It is a large lot, maybe 150' X 250'. If you arrive Thursday I'll bet you will be in the front row. He'll make every effort to accomidate you especially if you will be there for 3 or 4 days. Good Luck

                Dave,
You da man! I recognize the Union Fire Dept. name. It's where I stayed last year.

                Thanks,
                Gene

I have been staying at Carlisle Campground for years. They are a private campground. They have from tent only sites right up to full RV sites with full hook ups. The outdoor pool is a "Nice to have" when you get back after spending all day walking around in the heat. If you are coming in from the east off I-81 they are on the left hand side just west of the lights at the Wolf Bridge Rd./Harmony Hall intersection. The entrance is kind of hard to spot because it's only a driveway to the road and the campground is in the back. It's a long walk to the fairgrounds from there so I would only recommend it if you have a vehicle to drive once you are set up. You should reserve ahead but I don't recall them ever being completely full.

                  They're at 1075 Harrisburg Pike. 717-249-4563
