63 fuelie - fuel meter

Seems that part number 7017120 fuel meter is not available from my local Chevrolet dealer. Do you have one or know where one can be purchased. Mine is about to expire.

I'm not surprised that your Chevrolet dealer didn't have a GM #7017120. That part number was NEVER a SERVICE part available from GMSPO.

The 1963 Corvette with FI fuel meter assembly, GM #7017315, was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1971. So, your dealer is not likely to have one of those in stock, either.

For an item like this, you're going to have to obtain one from a specialty FI source like John DeGregory or Jack Podell. It won't be cheap.

You might check eBay and there are some folks who advertise FI parts in the Driveline. As Joe says, they won't be cheap.

I tried to call Jack but as usual his phone was busy. John indicated that he is tooling the cover I need and should be available later this year. Thanks for your help.

In your original post you had indicated that you needed a fuel meter, I interpretted this as meaning the complete ASSEMBLY. From your most recent post, it seems that what you're after is the fuel meter COVER. That part for a 1963 Corvette with FI was GM #7017317. The cover may have had the casting number which you described, but that was not the part number for the COVER assembly and the part was never available under that number. The GM #7017317 COVER assembly was also discontinued in October, 1971 at the same time as the METER ASSEMBLY. So, it's good that John is going to reproduce this often-required piece.

I don't understand what you mean by the description "about to expire". Covers are either good or they're cracked. Do you mean that yours is about to be cracked?

fuel meter body

OK, we have made arrangements for the cover. The meter casting is welded in areas were the tube enters. We still need at least the body casting or will buy a complete meter in good condition.

Thanks to Jerry Bramlett my fuel injection problem is solved. If you want Jerry's e-mail address just ask. Jerry has been very helpful. It won't be long now before I learn the correct name and numbers for all the parts.
