Re: 67 Frame Stencil meaning
Keith,
303196-33: A.O. Smith p/n, for 1967 there were -30, -31, -32, -33, & -34 series.
GC: abbreviation for Granite City, Il, where A.O. Smith plant was located
3900200: GM part number, should be in appropriate year AIM.
4-20-67: Date frame was manufactured, in this case, April 20, 1967.
According to Tripoli's book, the frame stencil should be 1" in height upside-down on the passenger side, and could resemble the following:
3900200-33
303196-1-18/GC
but this isn't always the case. If yours does not resemble this, don't worry. Could you please post how yours is painted on?- Top

Re: 67 Frame Stencils ??????
Stencils I have seen are all one piece with the letters lined up even at beginning and parallel and 3/4 inch , originals I have seen ,its obvious that top and bottem stencil are separate with random spacing and not lined up even at the beginning, top one being applied at granite city, like the top sample in the book having not received the lower stencil and date at the plant, called a mystery.
bottem sample ,the jan 18 one deferenced, letters are staggered at the beginning and first and second line not perfectly evenly spaced, suggesting two separate stencils
The Jan 18 stencil you list, car was probably built first week of Feb or about 10 days
earlier same as yours- Top

Re: 67 Frame Stencil Correction
Frank is correct about the height being 3/4". 67's frame stencil's were 3/4" in height, while 68 and later years (to at least 72) were 1" in height. My apologies for any confusion.
As far as the rest, I don't have any information regarding spacing, letters lining up, etc. The sample I listed was taken from Tripoli's book and was used as an illustrative example.- Top
