C1 AFB Carburetor Metering Rod Question

Constructing an AFB carburetor from various sources, both new and used, for my C1 with an incorrect motor.

Where can I find part numbers for AFB metering rods? I've got some metering rods that are stamped 16-389. What are the specs for that rod? Does anybody have a list of metering rod stamping/part numbers and their specs?

16-389 is 060/069 and was used on the 3460S/3461S, and maybe the 3721S. Federal Mogul still has a limited list of metering rods available and Edelbrock might also have them for their AFB clones.

      Chris,
If you can provide me with a way of sending you an excel file, I can forward a table I created which lists all the metering (step-up) rods and jet sizes with the combinations calculated to give you what I call EMA (Effective Metered Area). It's the area of the jet minus the area of the power step of the rod. Very useful for tuning.
I could also send you a copy of a page from my Carter book which lists all the rods by number and their respective sizes.

        email address is:

        cjr1@gte.net

(I did try to send you a private message, but I can't get that Board feature to work.)

Is this information in the Carter book? I have that.

I also couldn't find this information on either the Edelbrock or Federal Mogul web sites.

          Chris,
I also looked for the private message feature, but couldn't find it. I'll be emailing my spread sheet to you soon.
I have an old Carter book (about 3" thick, hard green cover) with specs on most of their carbs through 1968. The sheet that lists the rods is by itself in a front section. I don't know if it was supposed to be there or if someone added it.
After you receive my email, you can send me a fax number if you want a copy.
          Verne.
