My freshly rebuilt 365hp/327 (early 64 "870" block)is not getting oil flow to 7 out 8 left side rocker arms. The only rocker oiling normally on the left side is the #1 exhaust (farthest from oil supply). The right side is oiling normally. The engine carries 60# oil press. Cam, lifters, pushrods and rockers are new. Took the intake off and ran oil the pump to 60# with electric drill through an old distributor, and all lifters pumped up ok. Left side actually slightly quicker than right side. I purchased the 30/30 cam and lifers from GM. How can I identify the type of lifter I have? Piddle or edge. Any chance of a rear cam bearing issue here? The machinist installed the cam bearings for me after boring the block. I'm using a stock tach drive distributor. The real kicker for me is the #1 exhaust rocker oiling but not the others on that side. Any idea's would be appreciated. I'm fresh out.

Re: oil to rockers-327
Ed, Kinda simple, but did you site down the push rods to see if the path was clear prior to assembly? If one on that bank is getting oil and your lifters are not clacking, that's the only thing that I can think of.- Top

Re: oil to rockers-327
I would take the lifters apart to ensure there is not oil hole or internal blockage and that the oil pressure is pushing oil through the hole in the side and up through the pushrod. Also check the oiling hole in the rockers. Can't think of anything else.- Top

Re: oil to rockers-327
the edge orifice lifter has the oil hole above the recess groove in the center of the lifter and the piddle valve lifter has the hole in the center of the recess groove. are you talking about no oil using the primer or running the engine? you need to rotate the engine while using the oil pump primer to get oil to flow to all rockers. with edge orifice lifters it takes quit a while for the oil to fill the lifters so i always filled them with a oil can before installing them- Top
