    C2 Springs

Does anyone know why the front springs on a C2 are suppose to be installed with the shorter distance between the wound coils in the top of the tower. What difference does it make? Especially since they no longer make the original style coil springs and the reproduction springs can be installed either way.
Will it cause any problems? Thanks for your response!

    Re: C2 Springs

I recently replaced my front springs on my C2. There is a possible reason that the coils furthest apart should be on the bottom is clearance. The spring is not perfectly straight once installed and the coils are slightly closer together toward the center of the car as the spring is arched in position. If the close coils were on the lower section they might touch prematurely. I was able to purchase a set of variable coil spacing springs that looked exactly like the originals. I have yet to place full weight on the springs so I don't yet know the final ride height.
