    C-1 oil canisters

How do the reproduction canisters compare to the restored originals. Is $50 the only difference? Will they pass judging? Parigon seems to be the only one that offers screening rather than a decal. Have checked local barn yard and followed e-bay item# 2426095267 closely. Have e-mailed seller with questions, but never recieved a response. Ideas or advice? Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Jon

all my c-1 and c-2's that have duntoved have had Paragon cannisters. I believe they use junk yard originals, restore them then silkscreen them. Have always got full points with Paragons. Decals applied over painted cannister almost always are dtected, even when one clear coats the decaled cannister. I got caught and since have used Paragon. mike

As Mike explained, originals were silk screened and a decal IS detectable as a deviation for factory original. You 'can' restore one yourself from a scrapyard equivalent, but the cost of making the silkscreen mask for a qty 1 run is the economic 'rub'. Those who do the restoration either do have (or should have) a license from GM since there are intellectual property rights involved. But, once you legitimately own a given part, you are free to repair/restore it yourself....

Parigon also offers a reproduction canister for $75. I would imagine its probably similar in appearance but of thinner metal. Anyone currently using one? How does it compare? Thanks Mike and Jack!

I have a Paragon on my 67, the steel is every bit as thick as my original. I thinke like Mike says, they are originals that are restored with a silk screen....Craig
