    Tony----

Yes, the 66 and 67 green interiors were the same. Of course, with any interior color there were minor variations from batch to batch when NEW and in used condition there is wide variation in colors.

      Good question...Always research thoroughly....

Many of the color codes from year to year may be the same, but, the colors are not, and vice versa. I'm writing an article for the restorer on the subject.

DuPont color charts and codes for '66 amd '67 are 66_Dark Green #9187 Flat, '67 colors ar 9371LH-Semigloss, and 9382LH Flat, I don't know what the difference is, but they are NOT the same.

            Michael-----

My response to the original question was not based upon color codes, although the color codes for green trim are the same for 1965, 1966 and 1967. My response was based upon examination of original color samples of the vinyl and leather interior fabric material. Of couse, these may be a bit faded as they are approximately 35 years old, but they should be faded about equally and they certainly haven't been exposed to much light. While there may exist a SLIGHT difference in the color samples for the 2 years, in my opinion that difference is well within the variation that could exist WITHIN a single model year. With respect to "shades" of a particular color, these were not controlled within a "knats ass" during the period in question. They were very "batch-variable". They still are.

That's one of the reasons why if, even during the same year as the car's year model, one were to replace an interior panel or seat cover, it was VERY unlikely that the color would exactly match the original replaced. This is especially true for leather seat covers; they exhibited a much wider range of "shades" of a particular color than vinyl covers or panels. That's because the substrate material (leather) is highly variable and that affects the PERCEIVED coloration of the finished product, even if both hydes were dyed in exactly the same batch. This very situation has been the bane of dealer service departments and automotive upholsterers since time immemorial inasmuch as certain "persnickety" customers just cannot understand why a repaired or "replaced with GM original" panel does not match the rest of the interior. Of course, normal color fading is part of the reason but, as I say, even if the panel were replaced in a nearly new car, the replacement would be unlikely to be the same exact color.

In any event, in my opinion the 66 and 67 green interior colors are the same WITHIN THE NORMAL VARIABILITY of colors used in interior trim components and as I stated in my original response. They MAY be, in fact, different with respect to specific formulation but the PERCEIVED color is the same WITHIN THE NORMAL VARIABILITY of colors used in interior trim components.

I'll be looking forward to your article in the Restorer on this subject. I'll be particularly interested in your reference sources and the "thoroughness of your research". Since "thorough research" is, apparently, important enough to you that you include it boldly in your subject titles, I hope that I'm not disappointed.
