I recently purchased a new throttle return spring for my 62 327/340. It appears to be too long for the linkage to the bracket. The judging manual states that the large L-shaped bracket is mounted on the left front intake manifold stud. Mine is currently mounted on the second one back on the left. Should it be mounted on the first one along with the strap for the expansion tank? I have not been able to locate a good photo, and I don't have a copy of Noland's book handy.

Re: C1- bracket for throttle return spring
Rob - Believe the bracket is attached to the front intake manifold bolt, along with the X tank strap. Shown best on page 364 of Noland's book. Not quite as cleary, also shown in the AIM. Regards, Dick- Top

Re: C1- bracket for throttle return spring
Thanks Dick. You reinforced what I thought was the correct location. I looked at the AIM and agree. I moved the bracket to the front intake bolt and now the new spring makes sense. I am not sure what spring was on there, but it was painted white and its two ends were of equal length unlike the new one which has a longer straight section on one end.- Top
