Re: C1 FI Script survey
I personally know of an original FI car (61) that has the drivers side script at a visible angle, while the pass side is "straight". I don't believe this feature (or tack thereof) is an accurate predictor of an original car. There are many methods of verifying a real C-1 FI car, most of which have been discussed at length if you search the archives. I wouldn't be too concerned about the script being in "perfect" location.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C1 FI Script survey
I think your problem is this board provides a very limited slice of the NCRS membership to draw from. Generally technical surveys have been performed via the "Restorer" magazine which reaches the entire membership. You might also want to involve the judging team leader for the era you are interested in to determine intrest, help develop survey etc. just a thought...Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C1 FI Script survey
If I currently had a 58-61 fuelie, I'd be glad to provide the info. My car is a 62, so the location of the FI emblems is totally different. I think the previous reference to not posting information was intended as a deterent to a counterfiter, but the fact is that anyone comtemplating such a move probably already has the information.- Top

Re: C1 FI Script survey
I wrote an entire article on how to tell if a car is a fuelie back in volume 5 of the Restorer. That would be available through the NCRS office/store in several different ways. All of those are more reliable than the angle of the FI scripts.

Re: C1 FI Script survey
Thank you Ed! I appreciate your response. Isn't it funny that I am looking to buy a car that I have reasonable suspicion may be counterfit, looked for information on this site, and received everything but. I thought I left my parents 30 years ago!
Thank you again for your willingness to provide input. It's nice to know there are "trusting" and helpful people out there! John(# 21388)- Top

Re: C1 FI Script survey
Mike: I read the article and it was indeed very helpful. That information was what raised my suspicion of this car being made-up in the first place.
I come to this website almost daily, have the latest Corvette Restorer CD, and have studied the JG and AIM in detail. While I am not an expert by any stretch, I am definitely more aware of what is right than I used to be, and I owe that to NCRS and the many "helpful" people out there. Thank you for your advise and input. John (# 21388)- Top
