I'm posting this question for a new member of NCRS, he has just purchased a 1963 coupe (very nice car should top flight)but the problem is: the last owner while doing the frame-off restro. repainted it a different color than whats on the trim tag. He did leave the orig. tag alone, what would be he deduction in judging points? ALSO CAR IS BASECOAT/CLEARCOAT NOW. Thanks for any help.
paint question??

Re: paint question??
If exterior paint differs from trim tag substantially (e.g. red vs. white) expect a full deduction for Body Color (85 points) as well as Body Paint (another 85 points) for a loss of 2*85= 170 points or 170/4500= 3.7%. If paint is a different hue of the trim tag specified color (e.g. dark blue vs. light blue), then a 20% deduction should apply to the Body Color line (85 points) and judges proceed to judge the Body Paint line item (45 originality points and 40 condition points).
If paint used or manner of application is obviously different from factory original (enamel vs. lacquer or obvious 2-step base coat/clear coat), then expect a full deduction for the combined 85 point Body Paint line item too.- Top

PS.
New club judging policy here: If owner decides to pull the original trim tag and install a 'reproduction' trim tag to agree with the car's current color and that trim tag swap is detected, then the car may not achieve an award higher than 2nd Flight regardless of its actual Flight score....- Top
