I am trying to decide on an interior color for my wife's white 62. Did Chevrolet offer fawn beige interior for a white car? If they did, was this a popular combination? This is our first choice, with red as second.... input on choosing a color is welcome....as she is having trouble deciding and I am held up because of non-decision. PS: Is either one more valuable or rare?

Re: 62 interior/exterior color combinations
It's your car, so you can make it any color you like. I can tell you that white/fawn was far less popular than white/red when these cars were built. I have looked at a lot of 62 Corvettes in the last 40 years, and so far, I have not seen one. White /red is a nice combo. You wouldn't regret it. You might well regret white /fawn.- Top

Re: 62 interior/exterior color combinations
White/fawn is certainly an acceptable combination, and as stated before, uncommon, but certainly not unseen. In my dozen years in Southern California I encountered a number of beige interior solid axle 61s and 62s--a much higher percentage than in the east or midwest---because in Southern California, black interiors can burn your butt almost every day of the year! White /beige doesn't have a lot of color to it, but certainly doesn't build the summer heat that some others do.
Good luck on your choice.- Top

Re: 62 interior/exterior color combinations
Thank you all so much so far, this is good info for the wife as she can see now how the general corvette public can and will veiw her choices. The car was originally maroon with black and we know how manny of those there are! It will only be a driver. David- Top

Waddya mean "only a driver".
Last I heard, that's the primary function of an automobile! There are many wonderful vintage Corvettes out there that are not prepared for NCRS style judging. I hooked up with NCRS in 1976 or'77 and haven't had a car judged yet. Unlikely that I will anytime soon.- Top

Re: 62 interior/exterior color combinations
#6590 was fawn exterior and red interior originally but when I purchased it in 1968 that combo was not very stylish. Since 1995 a lot of members in my club
think I should restore it back to its former colors. Maybe when I have to urge to do it again. In the mean while its red ext. / black interior.- Top
