I have a 61, and 69 restored to original numbers. I have just purchased a 73 big block convertible, ok shape needs work to be a good driver. The engine is a 427 not the original 454. all else is original. I plan to make a good original driver of it. It needs body work and paint, it is RED now, original white top black interior. The color code is SILVER, (what tint is the 73 silver) I was thinking of making it Elkhart (I believe) GREEN. what would be better for resale if I decide to sell it someday, and what looks better on this car. PS. I usually go with the recomendations found here, I am easy to please,

There's no hard/fast rule on resale value of colors. BUT, the market sub-segment for Corvette tuned to factory concours judging will view a deviation from what the car's trim tag documents as a BIG economic impact. Essentially, they'll see the current paint job as a negative that has to be completely stripped and redone! Figure these folks will view a 'knock' of $10K or so on the price/value of the car....
Other resale market segments (driver car buyer, concours d'elegance, Etc.) just might see the color change as a price-adder or attraction issue. You roll the 'bones' in this decision.
There is a reason for the phrase "resale red". And , of course, the ever famous, "All Corvettes are red, the others are mistakes" statement. I am not a big fan of red cars, mainly because there are so many of them. But there is a reason there are so many of them.

Even though I happen to be very fond of ELKART GREEENNNN.....Patrick... I too would paint it silver. Number one, because I happen to like it... number two because of originality.... which leads to number three, re-sale value will be better because of number two, which leads back to number one, do you like it? Confused?
Cal, others have already given the best reasons: originality and resale, but your personal perference should also be high on the list.
Personally, I really like silver. I would much rather my 70 was originally Cortez Silver than Classic White. I am not alone in my preference: I read recently that silver is the currently the most popular color for new cars.
In 73, the PPG color was "Corvette Poly Silver", color code 914. See the web page below. It is a little darker silver than some years, but it is lighter than the passenger car silver for 73.
I had a '94 dark Polo Green w/ tan interior. Real sharp car.
My other green cars — '66 (ugh - sick cat-puke green) '67 (OK), '72 (Blah), '75 (Sick, lime green). I almost didn't buy the '94 cuz of the bad luck w/ the earlier green cars.
Al owns a beautiful (???) original Elkhart Green coupe with a Saddle Tan interior. The comment was specifically directed at him in jest, but it still doesn't mean I like the colors.

Actually, Ed, it only seems like all Corvettes are red. Looking at the numbers, red was one of the more popular colors, but often it was outnumbered heavily by white, blue, silver, and even green depending on the years.
I guess people just respond to a red Corvette and don't notice the other colors. I know that magazines used to count on a red Corvette on the cover to half again the sales that month. Add a blonde with it would double the sales.
OK, Original SILVER it is. My favorite color is green, but you guys make sense, SILVER. My wife says change top to black instead of white, she wanted the car red with a white top. Thanks guys I already had two red ones.
