    1971 seat belts

Can anyone tell me how to get the shoulder harness belt through the slot in the seat? Do I need to remove the vinyl sleeve that is over the metal buckle that clips onto the lap belt before trying to take it through the seat back. I have not had any luck trying to push it through the seatback. Thanks for any info.

Flip the buckle over, pass it through the slot to the other side, flip it back over facing correctly, then re-install the cuff.

      Shane,

I managed to work the rubber boot and buckle together through the slot in my 70. 70 and 71 should be the same. It required a little patience but it worked.

I have NOT done this, but I understand you do need to remove the cover, then feed the buckle through the seat, then reassemble the cover. I'm told that a hair driier or heat guns is highly suggested to soften the cover so that it comes off and goes on easily.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to the garage to try again!

            Shane:
As suggested remove the sleeve. It also helps to remove the bezel on the back of the seat, put the buckel thru the bezel, then pass the buckel thru the seat back, and reattach the bezel and sleeve

I would NOT suggest using a heat gun. A hair dryer yes. Too much heat from the gun.

                Thanks guys,

I used a hairdryer to heat the cuff and with little difficulty it came right off. I then turned the buckle over and slid it through the seat with no problem.
