    Spark at Battery

When I connect the battery cable to the battery the first contact gives off a large spark then diminishes to a smaller spark. My first thought is the clock, but I have not done any checking as of yet. I planned on introducing a VOM between the battery cable and post. Then hopefully by pulling fuses I can identify the circuit and ultimately fix my problem. Anybody had this, any ideas?

    Dan,
You didn't mention what year car you have. Does it have an under-hood light? I encounter this when I connect the battery cable to my '93 Chevrolet truck.

    Regard,
    Gene

it's a 64 vert and all accessories are off when this occurs. I do have some issues with fuel and temp guages not working but I would assume that would not show up with the key off. Thanks.... Dan

Dan, Try disconnecting your voltsge regulator. I just found this draw on a 65. Replaced the regulator, all fixed.

On my 64 I have accidentally left the ignition switch in the ACC position and ended up killing the battery. It's easy to do when you turn the car off by reaching through the driver window. Just a thought.

It's just that we are the only two that will admit it.
