I have used various methods including a home made assembly and a tool that I believe works like the tool you listed (bolts to the strut and caliper mounts). It all depends on how hard it comes out. I had one that we had the trailing arm in a press and it still would not come out. That one we had to cut the bearing with a torch. The tool works well if it isn't too tight. Don H.
if you can borrow a two handed slide hammer, it works great. mine came off after 33 hits ie about 5 minutes. easy to install. when i had to remove spindle again a few days later for a final adjustment, it took 5 hits.
Werner,
Thank you for your response and tip about the slide hammer puller. I have one with an attachment to bolt to the wheels studs. Question is: How will I hold the trailing arm assembly? It is currently off the car. I'm a little concerned about locking the pivot point in a vice and banging away. Sounds like I could bend the trailing arm?
Gene - I used a slide hammer in the old days. One came off on my 74, the other I wore my arms out...and it didn't budge. If your arms are off, do the press operation as Don suggests..Craig
